METAPHYSICS is the course that provides students with knowledge that can serve as the foundation for a fruitful assimilation not only of Philosophy but also of Theology. It starts by looking at the nature of Metaphysics (definitions, objectives, scope history and possible approaches). Then it explores the question of Being. Here in it studies basic terms and notions related to the metaphysical structure of being (principles of being, substance and accidents, categories, act and potency, essence and existence and esse). Further on it discusses the transcendental aspects of being (unity, truth, goodness and beauty). Finally it looks at causality.

For Christians, the New Testament is the fulfillment of the promise that God made in the Old Testament. The New Testament relates and interprets the new covenant, represented in the life and death of Jesus, between God and the followers of Christ, the promised Messiah. Like the Old Testament, the New Testament contains a variety of kinds of writings. Among its twenty-seven (27) books are selected recollections of the life, deeds and sayings of Jesus of Nazareth in the four Gospels; a historical narrative of the first years of the Christian Church in the Acts of the Apostles; the Epistles (letters of advice, instruction, admonition, and exhortation to local groups of Christians) attributed to St. Paul and other authors; and an apocalyptic description of the intervention of God in history, the Book of Revelation. It is, therefore, important that Christians understand God’s Word and live according to God’s will found in the twenty-seven (27) books of the New Testament.
